St. Cecilia Academy
Having been founded by girls from St. Cecilia Academy, there has always been a special connection between the school and the organization. A Be Happy Haiti club was established at the school in 2016 with the goal of expanding the understanding and knowledge of Haiti across the student body, as well as holding “toothbrush drives” to provide much needed dental hygiene supplies during our mission trips.
Starting in 2015, Be Happy Haiti sent its first group of young ladies to Haiti during their Spring Break. These annual mission trips have one focus: providing dental assistance to the children of the La Vallee de Jacmel area of Haiti. With coordination through local pastor(s) and school principals, the Be Happy Haiti teams are driven to dozens of schools in the area to provide dental care to the children. We engage the people where they live, and make personal connections and memories that last a lifetime. The work these young ladies perform includes the application of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) to treat active cavities, the application of sealants, and a fluoride wash. All this under the supervision of our own Medical and Dental staff.
To date, over 10,000 Haitian children have been treated through these Spring Break trips!
